We're investing in City Road Estate to help protect and improve the buildings, making them safer, more energy efficient and more attractive for everyone who lives there.
The improvement programme will cover four residential blocks and includes a range of essential external and internal works. This will include replacing roofs and windows, repairing and cleaning the outside of the buildings, upgrading communal areas, and carrying out security improvements to help tackle anti-social behaviour. While we're on site, we'll also be exploring opportunities to enhance shared outdoor spaces through new seating, landscaping and improvements to the children's play area.
As the estate sits within two conservation areas, planning approval is required before work can begin. Once approval has been received, we'll continue working closely with residents, keeping everyone updated throughout the project and providing plenty of opportunities to ask questions.
We'll continue to share regular progress updates, key dates and information about how the works may affect residents as the project moves forward.

The planning application is currently being considered. Once approval is granted, we will be able to move forward with the next stages of the project.
Expected Summer 2026
We are hereWe'll begin engaging with residents, sharing more detailed information about the programme, introducing the project team and providing opportunities to ask questions before works start.
Specialist surveys and technical investigations will be carried out to finalise the construction plans and ensure the project is ready to begin safely and efficiently.
Summer – Autumn 2026
Scaffolding will be erected and the site prepared for construction. Residents will receive advance notice of any temporary access arrangements or changes during this stage.
Late 2026
The main programme of improvement works will commence. Contractors will begin carrying out the planned repairs and upgrades, with regular progress updates shared throughout the project.
Late 2026
The works are expected to be delivered over approximately two years. As each phase is completed, we'll provide updates until the project is fully finished, final inspections have been carried out and the improved homes are handed back to residents.
